The Sylvia Hotel is the perfect place to stay if you want to fall in love with Vancouver. The hotel is more than 100 years old and its facade is almost completely covered with vines. There's also an outdoor patio where you can enjoy all the greenery and look across the street to English Bay -- you really can't get any closer to the beach and Stanley Park than here!

The standard rooms are a bit cramped, but they really make the most of them and everything is super clean. The building used to be an apartment complex and there are a couple two bedrooms suites with a kitchenette. The rates are quite reasonable for Vancouver - especially during the winter months - and you can get a good weekly or monthly rate.

Even if you don't stay here, it's worth checking out the restaurant. The food is delicious, prices reasonable, and views of the beach through the big picture windows are unbeatable. There's also live music most nights of the week.

Old fashion hotel on the English Bay, downtown Vancouver. The rooms are clean and roomy and they give you an actual key, not one of these modern magnetic cards.

A Vancouver classic. A must stay in the city with a view of English Bay.
