Széchenyi thermal bath

1146 Budapest, Állatkerti körút 9-11, Hungary
1 review

This bath in Budapest is pretty great. The water feels clean and lovely, and when we were there, it wasn't too crowded. They give you towels and the dressing rooms are in great shape. There are massages and other services available, but we did not partake in them. The outside area is huge and comfortable, lots of chairs and lounging ...

A day in the baths is a ubiquitous part of any trip to Budapest.. if you and up in the baths and not the zoo, but that's another story.. It's less that £10 for a whole day access, and if you don't stay fro the whole day, part of the ticket price is refundable. The hot pool is full of ...

    8 reviews

Located inside the Városliget City Park, this is a replica of the Vajdahunyad castle in Transylvania. I stopped here on a warm and sunny day, the park was brimming with activity, tourists and local families alike. Splendid spot to sit, relax and recover from the previous night's erm excesses.

The Budapest Stock Exchange is the official venue for publicly traded stocks. It is the paramount institution in Hungary for the buying and selling equities. The Exchange was opened in the mid nineteenth century, but when the leftwing communists wrested control of the country after WWII, all Hungarian companies were nationalized by the totalitarian communist regime. It was only after ...

Tours of the Parliament are held frequently, but reservations are highly recommended. My favorite part about this building is the exquisite marble featured inside, as well as the unbelievable views of the Danube you can see from the Parliament's balconies. It's worth learning the history behind it, too, as you'll get to appreciate the giant balls of iron that are ...

The Chain Bridge was one of the first things about Budapest that got my attention. Built in the mid-nineteenth century, the bridge helped cement two provincial towns, Buda and Pest, into a Hungarian super city.

Beautiful building, one of those great old wrought-iron situations with a huge glass-top central atrium. In my memory, it just goes up and up and up, like a fantastical department store...but one where the departments are just meat and cheese, and a smattering of veg. Oh, also, wine: we got little tumblers of tokaji, and someone had drawn smiley faces ...

We arrived by river boat on the Danube. This is a great way to get a view of the city. The city also has a walk way along the river that seems to be busier at night than during the day. Several of the restaurants had music outside and at one there were people dancing on the walkway.
