This is a nice area to explore and is great during the warm months. They have an amazing fire works show for the 4th of July. Water sports, hotels, restaurants & great areas to exercise. The highways are close and convenient.

Tahoe City is only a 10 minute drive to great shopping and restaurants. Commons Beach and Park is right in the middle of Tahoe City. It is a great family beach with a large lawn area and playground. During the summers, there are free concerts every week!

Tahoe City is the main area in Lake Tahoe if you want to participate in non-outdoor activities. The city itself is nice. There are restaurants and lots of hotels to rest and relax.

Right near the downtown area and walking distance is the free, sandy and scenic swimming area called Commons Beach. Those willing to brave the chilly lake water can go in for a dip or you can laze on the shore and admire the distant Sierra Nevada Mountains seen directly across Lake Tahoe.

If you're lucky you will be able to nab a free parking spot nearby.

This magical place has quiet coffee shops and also bustling big lodges. Tahoe is simply amazing in summer or winter! Our fav little spot is happy hour at Jakes on the lake watching the sunset.

Great place to do water sports, relax by the lake and chill. Not as crowded as King's Beach and close to the highway back to the bay area

Description

Tahoe City, California, is on the northwestern shores of Lake Tahoe, and although it gets touristy, it still retains a small-town vibe. Right by the lake’s only outlet, the Truckee River, this is a great place to go rafting in the summer. You can also go paddling, sailing, parasailing, and scuba diving, and if the water’s not your scene, there are plenty of hiking and biking trails in the area. ... read more
During the winter, it’s all about pounding the slopes, with the largest downhill ski area in California and Nevada nearby. Snow tubing and snow mobile riding are also available. And if it’s a different kind of thrill you are after, hop over the border into Nevada for some legal gambling at the casinos.
