This restaurant has been open for about 50 years and I've been coming here since 1985. A couple more locations has opened since then, but the simple menu stayed exactly the same. The beef noodles are excellent with a light but flavorful broth, their braised meats are top notch and the home-made pickled cabbage is classic.
One of the specialties of Taichung is this shaved ice. It's not the kind that we are used to seeing in the States. This is shaved ice topped with large red beans (they look like kidney beans), condensed milk, plum juice, and various flavors of ice cream. It's a refreshing treat.
