    Taipei 101 (台北101)

    123 reviews

Once, the tallest building in the world. From the outlook, you can tell Taipei 101 is an unique place. The observation deck is the best place to look down the city. (go up there when it's clear!) Just like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Taipei 101 is worth visiting at least once if you are in Taipei.

    National Palace Museum

    50 reviews

When Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan in 1931, he also brought along the world's largest collection of ancient Chinese artifacts. Today, the National Palace Museum houses this collection. It'll take a whole day—and a good pair of walking shoes—to take in all the artwork at the museum, but it is well-worth it. You won't find a more well-preserved and more ...

    Shilin Night Market

    73 reviews

One of my favorite experiences in Taipei. The food scene is amazing here, we went from stand to stand and made a night out of continuously eating. The price is very friendly compared to the US, basically you can grab anything for about a dollar US. There are many local specialties like smelly tofu, egg omelet curry, potato chips on ...

    Jiufen Old Street

    7 reviews

Another of my absolute favorite place in Taipei. This place is 1 hour outside of Taipei and served as the inspiration of the famous animation Spirited Away. The old street is located on the mountain top and the view of the ocean and its shores down below is second to none. Though a popular tourist spot, it retained the charm ...

Lots of food, shopping, and history along the old historic street; it gets pretty packed! The view is beautiful when there's clouds in the mountains...just make sure to bring an umbrella since it rains often up here! History: there used to only be 9 residents, so when they went shopping, they had to split items into 9 servings. The translation ...

    饒河街觀光夜市 (Raohe St. Night Market)

    3 reviews

Yay another nightmarket. Okay, the huge crowds can get crazy, but it's definitely a great way to spend your free time. Shop for clothes, play arcade games, and grab food all on one place :) the fried milk is interesting and they have mango silky ice! The pepper bun stand has a huge line; worth a try!

Great place by the river; my brother loves the arcade games here, so this is one of our musts when we're in Taiwan. The machines suck you and your money in, so set aside only a certain amount of money to play arcade games/play the claw machines. There's a really neat Turkish ice cream stand nearby; they give you a ...

    Eslite Bookstore Xinyi Branch

    5 reviews

In the US, bookstores seem to be going the way of dinosaurs, but certainly not here. The Eslite bookstore in the Xinyi district of Taipei is just a block from Taipei 101, and offers 6 floors of shopping. But wait, this not like any normal bookstore, it also offers unique mini stores with lots of eclectic goods, clothing, luggage, home ...

A lot of people come here to write their wishes on the lantern (different colors to choose from too for different symbolic values like fortune, love, etc). Q Square is located next to the Taipei City family and I came across it when we were walking around the Taipei train station vicinity. Q Square has some higher-end shops as well as a food court. If you want to shop for clothes, this is the place all the locals go. Some shops only sell items as wholesale/bulk, so you have to ask. Many of the shops have racks with items that are 100 yuan or 3 for 200 yuan...super cheap, you just have to take the time to look. The Raohe nightmarket is a short ...
