**MEDIOCRE BUT EXCELLENT SERVICE**
Booked on Tablet Hotels since I am a member.
You would think a 4.5 star hotel would be somewhat magnificent.
Especially $300 a night (including tax) . . .
*Friendly front staff
*Front doormen remember repeat guests
*Lots of storage space
*Huge bathroom (however, the bedroom itself can use some of this space!)
*Onsite gym and Michelin-star restaurant
*No Free Wi-Fi
$12.50 charge for Wi-Fi. Seriously. Your guests are paying an arm and a leg for a mediocre room and you are charging for Wi-Fi. Super lame.
*Brass fixtures everywhere. Makeover!
*Old carpets with stains everywhere ( e.g. hallways, staircases, etc.)
*Not hip or cool, geared towards the *older and distinguished crowd*
Taj Campton is personally NOT for me because I prefer the trendy hotels (think W, Clift, Kimpton, or Joie de Vivre) over the *distinguished* vibe here.

The Taj Campton Place in San Francisco offers a luxurious, comforting oasis from the hustle of Union Square and it’s avid shoppers. Located just off the square, this is a great place to duck into for a delicious meal or to call home for a long weekend.
What stands out to me most about the Taj is the food. Chef Srijith Gopinathan is the executive chef of Campton Place, a Michelin star restaurant that serves Mediterranean and California cuisine. The same kitchen services the entire hotel, even the room service. This means you can count on getting a fantastic meal when or wherever you happen to be. I was also drawn to the quiet Bistro bar located just off the lobby, serving lunch and of course cocktails.
The 110 guest rooms center around a lovely atrium. One secret is to request a room on a high floor, which has less rooms and therefore less noise. The Taj offers several different room categories so there are perfect fits for romantic weekends, girlfriend getaways or family retreats. I highly recommend this hotel if proximity to shopping and food are on top of your list of desires.
Virtuoso 2013 amenities include: upgrade at time of arrival, subject to availability, daily breakfast, $100 food and beverage credit.

How lucky of me to have two very good meals in one day. Dine About Town are often hit or miss but this time I had 2 hits in one single day (Aziza I love you too). I guess the effort I put in researching the restaurants and their DAT menus actually paid off.
Campton Place Restaurant looks more like a small private dining room than a restaurant. I like the exclusive and intimate atmosphere. Service is as expected from an upscale luxury hotel - prompt and courteous. I was very curious how they would pull off a $17.95 two-course lunch ($24.95 with dessert) without sacrificing too much quality.

I opted for the carrot soup, flat iron steak and chocolate parfait. The menu and ingredients really weren't anything fancy but the presentation is definitely 5 stars. The carrot soup is more like a puree with a thick and velvety texture. Quite delightful although I would like it even more if it is served at a slightly warmer temperature. Flat Iron Steak, cooked medium rare, was almost as delicate as the tenderloin cut. I also tried a bit of the Trout and it was flavorful and luscious. Chocolate Parfait was the highlight of my lunch. It was silky smooth with a delectable aftertaste.
Food was good but not exceptional - not quite solid 4 stars but I could see the potential from this simple menu. Would I come here again outside for DAT? Quite possibly.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers
