If you are an architecture lover then this is a must see on your trip! Close to the Shea Luxury Condo you can get there with ease! Take a tour and learn more about the famous Frank Lloyd Wright and his influence on the world! This site is a bite small but the setting is so tranquil!

I'm a huge fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and had been looking forward to visiting Taliesin West, his winter architecture camp in the Arizona desert near Scottsdale, for a long time. Visiting Oak Park in Illinois and Spring Green in Wisconsin only explains part of Wright's development as an iconic architect - touring Taliesin West will give you a better idea of how he incorporated natural shapes and colors into his indoor / outdoor building and home designs.Recommended for

Frank Lloyd Wright began building this desert masterpiece in 1937 as his personal winter home, studio, and architectural campus. Located on the beautiful Sonoran desert in the foothills of the McDowell Mountains in northeast Scottsdale, the site offers a broad range of guided public tours. Visitors experience Wright’s brilliant ability to integrate indoor and outdoor spaces.

It's everything good about the Arizona desert rolled up in one -- gorgeous plant life, vistas that go on forever -- and topped with a Frank Lloyd Wright home, where he lived and worked for years. Fascinating tour, and a great gift shop.

Although I was bummed at first, I'm so glad we visited Taliesin West in a pouring rain which served to focus attention on one of the major flaws of FLLW's designs (and much of the Neutra/Eichler mid-century architecture he inspired): water leaks. The 2+ hour tour of the beautiful home and buildings was very comprehensive. Great gift shop; I still use a folding artists' chair I bought there. Very worthwhile.

If you enjoy Frank Llloyd Wright, good design or just peeping into rich people's homes, this tour is for you! Off the beaten path from Phoenix (though not that far, especially by my LA standards) and wedged into the desertscape is residence built by FLW that attempts to blend in with the land. It was also used a place where artists could come and hone their craft. Nice little gift shop too. Bring water! You will largely be outdoors as the place was built with no AC.

If you've never seen the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, take a tour of this unique desert oasis. I'd never been anywhere like this before. I liked that there are different tours to choose from, based on time and your family's interests. You usually won't need to wait too long to get a spot on a tour eihter, as they don't take advance reservations.
