Whether you are an ocean lover or a Hindu devotee, there is no doubt that Tanah Lot has a powerful spiritual draw on anyone lucky enough to lay eyes on this special holy place. While the temple itself is amongst the most beautiful of Bali's pura worship sites, the connection with the turquoise sea is what really sets this place apart. The ocean rolls right up to the base of the temple, waves lapping at her stonework. Unfortunately, it can be a little crowded and over-touristy at times, but no wonder, this is a place not easily forgotten.

What used to be a place of worship and pilgrimage for the locals has turned into somewhat of an overly commercialized hot-spot for tourists to come in trolls and be promised something spectacular by their tour guides, only to find it uneventful. To get in and out of the temples, you'd need to pass through a tourist market twice the size. Don't get me wrong I think its a nice place to visit, however it would do good with a little less tourist gimmicks.Recommended for

We enjoyed our visit to Tanah Lot Temple mostly because of its magnificent location by the sea. We didnt visit near sunset, a popular time to visit since the tide would recede around that time allowing visitors to climb to the temple and of course the beautiful sunset colors. Even so, we were treated by views of the temple unobstructed by people. Perhaps next time we go at sunset!

Don't understand the fuzz around Tanah Lot Temple, the only thing I can think of is the sunset, but you get it elsewhere as well for example at Kuta Beach. It's overcrowded, you can't even go on the island itself, I understand it's still the #1 tourist attraction in Bali but personally I think it's overrated, there's plenty more to discover in Bali.

A picturesque sunset spot. The temple is on an island accessible by foot at low tide, but visitors are not allowed to enter it. There are a number of scenic vantage points around the coastline though. It can get quite crowded and touristy though.

a wonderful place to see the sunset, there are temples where you can perform a spiritual tourist, there is also a market for souvenir shopping, eating corn on the cob, put on temporary tattoos, and good paintings.Recommended for
