This hotel looks like something out of Bogart film - ornate interior and a spiral staircase. great art on the walls and the feeling of history everywhere. The best part is the fantastic rooftop bar - whether you're staying there or not be sure to drop by for a drink at sunset to watch the world go by.Popular with

I went here on my honeymoon and it was the most amazing place that I've ever been. Magical, inspiring and totally dream-like. I felt like we were transported to another world at this lodge. Service was impeccable. If you go to Tanzania, you must stay here.Popular with

An excellent hotel in Nungwi, the main beach in Zanzibar. Good service, great food and they even helped me rigging my laptop's power socket to fit theirs. A bit expensive, though.

We stayed for 5 nights over the New Year's holiday at Langi Langi in a Sea View room. Although the hotel feels like an all inclusive resort, it still maintains a level of authenticity as it is fully owned and staffed by locals. The room itself was fairly small but had a nice balcony overlooking the water and incredible view. ...

You've probably seen the footage of wildebeest crossing the Grumeti River as they complete their migration route and head back into Kenya -- crocodiles gorging on their hapless victims. Grumeti Camp sits right near that crossing on the river. The camp lacks a bit in its standard, and it could use an upgrade of its furnishings and decor, but to ...Popular with

How on Earth this place can get less than a 5 star review is beyond me. This was my 8th trip to the African continent and Tarangire is right at the top of my short list of places to stay. This camp is situated right smack in the middle of the park and offers an amazing view. And this review ...

We spent two days here while in the Western Serengeti. I think the options for accommodation in this part of the Serengeti are at places like this (mountain top with views) or in the migration camps very close to the Grumeti River, which were actually pretty far from here. We really enjoyed our stay at this camp. The "tents" were ...Popular with

This may not be the fanciest hotel in the world...but it sits on the Ngorogoro Crater offering the best view if the stars I have ever seen in my life! The views of the crater are pretty amazing as well. The rooms were comfortable and after sleeping in a canvas tent for days felt first class. The restaurant had very ...

Went on my first safari in Arusha National Park. Stayed overnight in Hatari Lodge, which is an amazing place. A John Wayne film - Hatari (which means danger in Swahili) was filmed there. Next morning went for a game ride and saw giraffes, zebra, waterbuck, buffalo, bushbuck, dik dik, warthog, mongoose, and lesser and greater flamingoes. The acacia (giraffe's favorite ...Popular with

I've stayed at all of the Serena lodges in the Serengeti, and have to say that this is the nicest of the bunch. The view is magnificent -- as you enjoy your sundowner and peruse the open plains ahead of you. Design of the hotel is very impressive as well, and if that wasn't enough - a swimming pool from ...

Get a tea on their terrace, facing the sea. A colonial touch for this stylish hotel in Stone Town, where we normally make a stop, while going around in Stone Town.Popular with

Great location right in the heart of the Serengeti. The view deck is a great place to catch the sunset and view the animals running around below.

Have to say that Breezes is a bit expensive for what you get. I've stayed in much more luxurious places in Zanzibar and paid less. Location and setting is amazing though, and the fish and fruit are of the highest level. It's a very relaxing and romantic spot, but be prepared to dig a little deeper than you might expect.Popular with
