    Twiga campsite

    Twiga campsite

    5
    1 review

How do often do you get to sleep under the stars right next to one of the wonders of the world? Twiga is nestled on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, and consequently you get lulled to sleep by the distant howls of hyena's, moan of lions and blehs of zebra on the crater floor. The campsite is a great ...

    Rufiji River Camp

    Rufiji River Camp

    1 review

This lodge is actually in the Selous Park, and not in Stone Town like the title of the review might suggest. The Selous is one of the wonderful, but overlooked national parks in Tanzania, where you explore wildlife in boats, instead of in Land Rovers like in the other parks. The camp itself is made of luxury tents, and the ...

Excellent! - 95% of guests recommend

For perfect stargazing nights and hot sunny days, The Residence embodies the exoticism and mystique of the castaway African Spice Island, Zanzibar. Secluded beachfront pool villas are set along vast white-sands and coconut palms. Villa bicycles encourage exploration of 80-acre grounds. The glass-walled infinity pool radiates sophistication whilst a full-service spa enhances total relaxation. My highlight is champagne picnic on ...

Stone Town Cafe and Bed & Breakfast

    1 review

A great place for a quick, cheap, breakfast before heading out into the winding streets of Stone Town. The food was good (as you can see), but the coffee -- just plain black coffee -- was particularly good; it was easily the best I had while on my two week trip to Tanzania.

Situated in the middle of paradise it offers bungalows with shared bathrooms, or en-suite. Everything is positioned back from the beach, except for the restaurant and bar. The food is decent, but the portions are a bit lacking and prices are high compared to similar offerings in town or up north along the beach. The staff are friendly, the rooms ...

THE place to stay when in Jambiani! You totally loose track of time there. Everyone's so chill and the food, although simple, is really good. You can walk into the ocean for 1 km before getting water up to your knees when the tide is low. The sand is like cookie dough. I want, no! I NEED to go back ...

    The Arusha Hotel

Fair - 72% of guests recommend

This is a good, slightly overpriced, comfortable hotel to stay while in transit to Mt. Kilimanjaro and/or Serengeti Park—there is not much to explore in Arusha. The standard room was pleasant, clean and comfortable, and breakfast surprisingly good. The personnel were generally friendly and helpful. Do explore: The 'Mountain Village' on the way to Mt. Kilimanjaro as it has a ...

    Zanzibar Coffee House

We stayed for a night at the end of December 2011, after trying to locate a hotel room during Zanzibar's peak season. Although the website mentions a two night minimum, I was able to secure a room for one night, which was great. The only catch was that open room was a suite, which was fine even though there were ...

Tarangire National Park is another of the often overlooked parks in Tanzania that is very much worth your while. One of the few places in Northern Tanzania where you can get really close to the famed baobab trees. Since the Tarangire River always has water it offers great opportunity for spotting wildlife. And the River Camp has a stunning deck ...

It's been a long time since I've been here (1997), but this island was amazing - spectacular corals that are nearly exposed at low tide, so easily seen by snorkelers, a sizable forest, and great views from an old lighthouse. If I ever make it back to Zanzibar, it's on my list.
