    The Passing Show Restaurant

    2 reviews

Every time I am in Zanzibar, this is my first stop after dropping off my luggage at the hotel. I usually find myself there for lunch every day I'm in Stone Town. They serve tasty, authentic local fare and fresh juices. I highly recommend a plate of beef biryani along with a glass of tamarind juice. Their house-made chili sauce ...

    6 Degrees South

    2 reviews

Ok- so it's relatively expensive. Let's get that out there first. However in our opinion it was money worth shelling out. We had the lobster mango and samosas to start which were really good- especially the lobster. The fish platter was our main and on that the king fish was superb. The only let down was the slightly stale cheap ...

A cool outdoor cafe serving fresh fruit, smoothies and lunch specials. They have wifi, but you have to pay.

    Upanga Club

    2 reviews

I am not sure how this dumpy little "club" got put on the tourist circuit, but it did. There is some unexciting Indian food and beers with outdoor seating. However, the real draw is the Friday night bingo, when the place fills up with Indian families and travelers. I found it incredibly underwhelming.

This is another hip hang out spot in Stone Town. It is a great place for sun downers, but also a luxurious dinner, and evening drinks. There is a bar inside for being social, or take a table outside right on the beach, and feel the sand run through your feet.

    Sambusa Two Tables Restaurant

I would rate this a must do in Stone Town. It is just a cool experience. You go into the family's home, and they prepare like five or six special Swahili home cooked dishes for you to try. They are delicious and the family is friendly and welcoming, definitely give this place a try.

This place has a super cool vibe, with a big wine bar in the back, and a cool cafe/bar out front. Definitely check this place out for some afternoon tapas, and sit out on the balcony and watch the busy Kenyatta road pass on by.

    The River House

Situated right next to a river in a very lush garden, the aptly named River House is a wonderful restaurant serving local cuisine and bbq items. We especially enjoyed the pre meal drinks in their garden patio where we could hear the river/stream. We had a very delicious and relaxing lunch here on our last day of visit in Arusha.

    Spices and Herbs

    1 review

It's one of my favorite restaurants in Arusha. Friendly staff serve great Ethiopian food here in a comfortable setting. It's not set that far off the road but somehow it provides a nice little retreat from the hustle and bustle of Arusha.

    Bahari Restaurant

Great Italian, and seafood at this quiet little restaurant on the beach. The seafood pizza is quiet good, and the beers are cold.

    Karambezi Cafe

Beautifully perched on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the sea. The sea breezes quickly make you forget about hot sticky Dar. Have a couple drinks and relax with some friends. A great spot to chill.

Freddy's has got it all - a sea view, a full bar, international cuisine AND cultural nostalgia (for fans of Queen). Freddy Mercury fans will well know that Zanzibar is his birthplace and the old photos of him on the walls here are the closest memorial you'll find to his fallen royalty. A great place for a sundowner.

Great coffee from a little hole in the wall shop. There is some little canvas chairs outside on the balcony for hanging out, and you can buy beans and ground inside. Very friendly service.

    Kibo Bar

    1 review

A pleasant place to sit for quality coffee, drinks or a meal with great natural light and friendly service. For lunch they have a tasty looking sandwich bar, or you can venture next door for the pasta bar or salad bar for about 11 usd. The salad bar includes smoked salmon, rack of lamb, a bread and cheese plate, and ...

    The Waterfront

    1 review

Lots of seafood options or some mediocre looking pizza. Come for the ambiance, not the food. Right on the waterfront, it is a serene place to be on a sunny day, and gets fairly full at night.
