It's not a large bakery, but what they make here is excellent. Come here in the morning and you will probably get your pastry while it's still kinda warm. The parking may be a challenge (18th and Guerrero) but keep looking - a one block walk is nothing, and the treats here are worth it.

If I coud eat here all day I would! I would start my day off with one of their gooey and scrumptious sticky buns. next I would keep it going with a spinach quiche that is to die for. The crust is so flakey and everything is so flavorful I should stop right there. Next I need the banana cream tart which is truly my favorite. The crust is so rich and crumbly while the bananas are so intense with flavor. I should stop but I still need that bread pudding and their fantastic sandwiches but I guess I can get those to take home or at least until tomorrow.

The line out the door? It'll never go away. So gather as many goodies as you can when it's your turn! If you've read my other reviews, you know I'm a tart for chocolate. But here it's the lemon bar that carries me to a happier place. And the chocolate croissant. (Had to sneak in a chocolate pastry there somewhere.) Keep a group of willing friends who will taste the goodies with you so you can order nearly everything!

this place is always crowded. my favorites are the chocolate croissant, almond croissant, and the orange morning sticky bun. the croissants are huge and a little pricey, but super rich and tasty. the orange morning buns are really good esp when they come out of the oven early morning. they have lots of other breads, dessert breads, pastries, cookies and cakes. seating is limited and expect a line, but it's well worth the wait!

If anyone were to ask for a great recommendation in San Francisco for sweet treats, Tartine bakery is where I would direct them to, without a second thought!

Tartine is a cute little bakery joint situated in the Mission. It's charming character is warm and inviting and leads fans alike to line up and patiently wait, like it's no big deal. What to get? Their Cream tarts are AMAZING! The banana is so yummy, with rich dark chocolate on the top of the flake pastry.

    High recommended!

This is the best bakery on the West Coast, if not the entire world. Eat the bread pudding, hot morning buns, croissants, or hot pressed sandwiches...

Great morning bun and coffee, but otherwise, just an overly-packed, overrated bakery.

After 6 years of baking in the countryside, they relocated to San Francisco to open Tartine Bakery in 2002. Elisabeth was named Pastry Chef of the Year in San Francisco Magazine.
