The museum is now home to the Tate's British Art collection as well as Turner bequest. Doesn't feel as cramped as it did before. Also has some interesting exhibitions. Linked to the Tate Modern by High Speed Boat

The original Tate museum is not to be missed. Best collection of British art in the world, great special exhibitions, lovely neighborhood. And the Rex Whistler Restaurant is good too. Awesome wine list.

A Mecca for fans of Joseph Mallord William Turner, this vast museum specializes in British art from 1500 to the present day. You can use online tools to research your visit in advance, or just wander the halls. I am a Turner fan so I headed to the Turner sections, but kept getting waylaid by works by artists like Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, and John Singer Sargent. Entry is free.

This is the "other Tate." Most people don't hit this one up. It's smaller than it's Modern cousin, but had way more cool exhibits than I expected. It's a little off the beaten path to get to, but a very enjoyable walk through the Pimlico area.
