From a variety of projects int he Turbine Hall through to some of the most comprehensive retrospectives of contemporary artists, Tate Modern is one of the leading art spaces in the UK. Designed by the architects, Herzog & De Meuron, the gallery is split into 6 galleries that sit on 4 main levels. Recently the Tate also opened up a new gallery space, dedicated to perfomance art, the Tate Tanks, as well as also working on a large extension which will house younger emerging artist's exhibitions. Plus the restaurant/bar has views over London that definitely shouldn't be missed!

If you live in London, it is definitely worth picking up a membership. This will grant you unlimited access to all the paid exhibits, and to their members room on the 6th floor. The Tate has a great track record for putting on well curated, thought provoking exhibits. Definitely worth checking out.

It's large, it's well known, and operates on a donation scheme. It's a brilliant museum with plenty of exceptional exhibitions, but it can often feel overcrowded and overwhelming. Give yourself plenty of time to take in the art for maximum appreciation.

Not much more I could add to all the reviews before me. But in short, if you love Modern Art, there is no place else to go but this place. Oh .. And as a bonus, you can have a great view of the Thames, the Millennium Bridge, and St. Paul's Cathedral from the Cafe's Veranda. Don't miss it!

Tate Modern is an amazing gallery, and it has gathered the most interesting, and sometimes, I must admit, weirdest pieces of art. I cant say I enjoyed everything in there, some of the things were a bit strange, but as a whole it was really interesting, and if you like art, its a must see!

If you're visiting the Tate Modern, be sure you're ready to fork over a couple quid for the paid exhibits - I'm consistently impressed by the quality of what's on. You won't regret it.
Definitely include the Tate Modern as part of your "Southbank Stroll" - a must for any visitor to London.
If you're a local and an art lover, definitely purchase Tate Membership! Access to all paid-for exhibits and a swanky, gorgeous members are with a not-too-shabby view of the Thames.
