I met my friend R.V., a Roman for many years (though he prefers to be known as a Florentine), in front of Bassetti Tessuti, Rome's largest fabric store. He was going to take me to his favorite pizzeria, nearby. Hm. Where was it exactly. We walked a few blocks and "Ah, here it is." I ordered a bianco (no tomato sauce) with lots of greens and some red wine. Simple meal, yes. But the pizza, the pizza was truly the best thin-crust pizza I'd ever had. And really I've had a lot of Italian-made pizza. The crust was pita-thin, and crisp, and so flavorful. I was planning to eat only half, but I just had to eat the whole thing and savor every bit.
In Rome? Want pizza? Go to Taverna Le Coppelle.

Had my first italian pizza at Le Coppelle and I was certainly not disappointed, specially because the pizza was amazing. I ordered the traditional Margherita and loved every single bite of it. The sauce, mozzarella and basil combination was superb. And the "thin cooked to perfection" crust was also great. Now I totally understand why italian pizzas are so famous. ;)
