This is basically ground zero for Lebanon's artisanal and regional foods. The great thing about the country is that it's so tiny, it's feasible for kindly old grannies to trundle into Beirut once every couple of weeks and cook up an enormous lunch, then go home the same night. Tawlet serves a lunch that changes daily to focus on a different part of the country and whatever produce is in season. It's like a living museum of recipes. I wish I had gone several times--as it was, I went once for lunch (during cherry season--swoon!) and again for an evening cooking lesson for Armenian food. Oh, and the place is just cool-looking too--kind of raw interior, big communal tables.
