Witness the long history of New Zealand at this national museum, free to visit for all. This is a great way to take a break from summer outdoors activities.

very interesting museum, as well for history as for modern New Zealand. we visited at the first day of the exposition The Lord of the Rings, the main reason for us to travel here. it was an icing on the cake...and also the red carpet opening of the film!!!

Te Papa (Wellington Museum) is one cool museum. Filled with marine and biology exhibits, interactive rooms like a live movable map, and an earthquake simulator, it's the perfect place for an afternoon indoors. Add the Middle Earth vibe and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit memorabilia, and how can you get any cooler? Oh yeah, it's free.

Te Papa the National Museum of New Zealand is simply awesome. Everything from interactive historical displays starting from the forming of the earth to pop culture this museum has it all. Temporary exhibitions sport fine art and best of all the whole thing is free of charge.

Not just any museum, great for kids and a lot more fun then most museums. Have been here many times and my all time favourite has always been the 'Golden Days' film and I always take a trip to the Earthquake house.Recommended for:Family Travelers
