Description

Thousands of tourists and Caracans alike climb up Cerro El Avila every day by foot, but a more leisurely way to reach the summit is by the Sistema Teleférico Warairarepano. The Teleferico was established in 1955, but closed in the late 1970s, and remained so (mostly) until the year 2000, when it was renovated. The 3.5 kilometer (2 mile) route takes about 15 minutes and provides excellent views of both the Cerro and the city.
