The Tennessee State Capitol building is a gorgeous piece of Tennessee history. And you can tour it for my favorite price: free! Fronted by a beautiful green hill we sled down on cardboard box tops and air mattresses when we get a good snow, the capitol building looks out over the bicentennial mall. You can enter the building any time you like to view its impressive architecture and public art installations, and when the legislature is in session, you can watch the creaky wheels of democracy in motion from the public gallery. Free tours start every hour on the hour.
