Brought to you by the owners of Magnolia's Pub and Brewery, Alembic delivers a true taste of classic and local flavor. The bar is constructed out of vintage wood from Kezar Stadium, which makes for a warm, inviting San Francisco feelRecommended for:

There’s something sophisticated, unpretentious, and a bit masculine about whiskey – and this Haight Ashbury drinkery is the perfect place in which to honor it. Classy but understated décor complements a dizzying array of bourbons, scotches, and ryes, including a list of cocktails that would make any Good Ol Boy – or his Good Ol Girlfriend – proud. A special treat is the Bourbon Old Fashioned: spicy high-end whiskey served on the rocks with a hint of sugar and a twist of lemon peel.Recommended for:

Love the craft cocktails at this chill little bar in the Upper Haight. Delicious bites including the duck hearts with pickled pineapple, pork belly sliders, ribs, hot dog, chips with whipped Greek yogurt dip and faux gras terrine. My fave: the Just Like Honey cocktail.Recommended for:

This smallish joint in the Upper Haight offers great food and amazing cocktails. The bartenders here really know how to mix a drink and the cocktail menu is fairly original. They offer quite possibly the best sazerac you've ever tasted. Seriously.
If it's food you want, you also can't go wrong. They serve small and large plates. The menu changes regularly, but if they're offering it, I highly recommend the bone marrow.

If you want something different, this is pretty different. Pickled quail eggs, Baynes Sound clams, bone marrows, miso-glazed black cod , goat cheese croquettes. California ingredients driven by a bit of craziness. Awesome gastro pub and amazing selection of booz.

The Alembic is the Haight's probably most respected bar/gastro-pub.
The drinks are all about $11. Bartenders here are wonderful and work up their mixologista skills. If you want, you can also request special drinks and the bartenders will whip up something great for you!
They also have small, tapas-type dishes - great for sharing!
But really, go here for the amazing cocktails. A great gem in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood.
