A Los Angeles Classic, the best burger in town and Apple Pie for many decades of course. Come early, there's always a line and seating is at the counter only!

Great burgers. My fave is the Steakburger, though others swear by the Hickory. Fries are fairly standard fare, and better skipped in favor of the fresh pie.

Seating can sometimes be iffy, but they'll handle to-go orders pretty quickly, so take it to go if you don't want to wait for a spot at the counter.

Old school burger joint, it really feels like something from the 50s. The burger and fries are decent, but I don't feel it's all that special. Maybe the desserts is where it's at?

The seating is just around the counter, so sometimes the wait can be 20 minutes, but the service is fast. The burgers come full of toppings, like bacon, cheese, and grilled onions, but they are a bit on the greasy side.

Smack dab in the middle of West LA you'll find The Apple Pan. (Plus it's on a major street served by bus lines, if you're taking public transportation.) They've been around for years, and the food is super cheap and delicious. Famous for their apple pie (hence the name), they also have great hamburgers.

The Apple Pan can almost be considered a cult restaurant. Their hamburgers, sandwiches and pies are famous across the city as the best around. Part of the legend is how little seating is available, probably about 15 barstools. Parties are often forced to split up in order to avoid hour long waits. But its worth it, as so many will attest, for a taste of their famous Steakburger or Hickoryburger. Save room for banana cream pie...
