The Beehive

Via Marghera 8, 00185 Rome, Italy

16 reviews

A stylish hostel that is steps from Termini station, but feels like a little oasis of modern cool. A vegetarian cafe graces the basement and rooms range from larger dorms to privates. One of the best ever value for money hostels.

Great for history lovers and the free admission is a nice change of pace after all the $$ you spend all over Rome elsewhere. Final resting place of Rafael and other famous roman kings.

Rome's oldest market is held on Campo Dei Fiori (Flora's Courtyard, not 'flower market'). Here you will find the best fish in the city, fresh vegetables and attractively-piled fruit, spice.

So amazing. It's very ornate and you feel like you can't take everything in. I happened to be here in February of 2013, in between popes, so that was an added interesting element to my trip.

I absolutely loved it here. Whether during the day, the sunset or at night, Piazza del Campidoglio is beautiful and offers an amazing view of Piazza Venezia and much of Rome. Walk to the side of the Musei Capitolini to find a little quiet area where you can sit and watch the sun set over Rome. Amazing.

Walk in the footsteps of Cesar's and Julius himself. You can feel the history of the place seeping into your feet as you walk around these grounds and gaze upon the remnants of buildings and statues left standing

I once spent a few twilight hours on a bench in this magnificent round piazza. It wasn't very crowded at the time and as I sat there I marveled a bit at the irony of Rome's oldest monuments--it's Egyptian obelisks. Many were taken as trophies by Augustus after his defeat of Antony and Cleopatra at Actium.

Castel Sant'Angelo is by far the most worthwhile attraction requiring a ticket in Rome. Those unable to walk well should heed this warning: ...

The Pincio offers some excellent vantage points of the Piazza del Popolo. In the late spring and early summer, you can get some amazing photos of Rome's skyline ...

Peaceful green hills and ruins about as untouched as you'll get in the Caput Mundi. The Palatino is wonderful for strolling, contemplating the origins of Roman culture, and taking in the views from this particular hill out of Rome's famous seven.
