With enormous push from Atlanta's former mayor, Shirley Franklin, the Atlanta Beltline is a project that has spanned nearly a decade. The Beltline is a 22-mile stretch that weaves throughout the city. It has green space, transit and unique art projects. Throughout the year the Atlanta Beltline Project hosts Art on the Beltline, which takes submissions from local artists and places their work around the 22-mile stretch. Simply taking an evening walk or biking path can lead you to gorgeous, brightly colored murals or artwork inspired Native American ancestry. There are many entry points to the Beltline throughout the city and a quick visit to the website will make it easy to pick a route and start sightseeing.
