A lovely place to stroll around, sit by the stream, picnic, or contemplate life. I loved Christchurch's botanic gardens, and the way the city has made an effort to keep this oasis of nature in the middle of an otherwise torn apart city in the wake of the disastrous earthquakes.

The Garden City did not disappoint. Amazing collection of plants both local and exotic. Also the rose garden is truly spectacular.

The grounds were extensive and fabulous. Many strange and interesting plants to learn about. There is a great playground for kids (we got stuck here with our energetic 3 yo) with a small restaurant nearby for sustinance. A great place for a picnic and to while away an afternoon if you need some downtime.

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens are really lovely - even when nothing's blooming!
