The Buttes is, well, beautiful (Butte-iful? Sorry, had to do it.) It is a resort in every sense of the word. Built right into the eponymous mountainous range, this hotel sets itself apart from other hotels in the area. Rather than simply evoking the desert landscape, the Buttes embodies it.

Arizona has a distinct sparse beauty about it, and the architects of the Buttes embraces this to the fullest. Everything is open, allowing for many wonderful views, both man-made and natural. The rooms, I was told, were just renovated months before my visit.

The Buttes would be a perfect place for tourists looking to get a delightful taste of the desert lifestyle, or even for Arizona residents looking for that perfect “staycation” locale. The property is immaculately maintained, and the staff all friendly and offer that much-coveted “service with a smile.”

Perfectly nice resort property. It is definitely a 3 star for Phoenix and another $50 elsewhere will get you something more modern and plush. That said, this is a great value option with good sized rooms, friendly staff and an attractive pool area. An easy 10 min ride from the airport. The gym is basic but above averse vs. most city hotels.
