The Charlee

Calle 9A No. 37-16, MedellĂn, Antioquia, Colombia
1 review

The Charlee sits right atop parque lleras, one of the main shopping and nightlife areas of the city, so if you want to be close to all that it's the perfect choice. With that being said, it's also the most touristy part of the city so there's a bit of a trade off. The outside of the hotel attempts to ...

    Resturante Mondongos

    0.08 mi from The Charlee
    3 reviews

Mondongo is common local dish. People seem to either love it or hate it ( I love it, in case you were wondering). So, you start with a tripe soup and on the side you have rice, fresh cilantro, avocado and banana. You scoop out a piece or two at a time and add it to the soup. This is ...

    Crepes & Waffles

    0.09 mi from The Charlee

A Colombian chain whose name describes it all. They have a huge collection of both sweet and savory crepes, along with a massive selection of desserts. The crepes with veal, spinach and cheese are a nice choice and I'd recommend the pistachio ice cream with chocolate sauce for dessert.

Salad, sandwiches and sangria are the highlight here. The menu is huge, the salads are large and fresh, as are the sangrias. The restaurant covers two levels with plenty of seating both inside and outside. If you are finding vegetables hard to come by, this is the place to go.

Absolutely incredible place for dessert. They features all kinds of decadent options that mostly revolve around chocolate. There is everything from tarts and cakes to full chocolate fondue. It's also a nice chocolate shop/cafe with a beautifully designed interior covered in dark wood with a nice patio outside.

Nice place for Indian food. Every thing is fresh and tasty. There is a coconut curry dish with shrimp and a lamb dish that are amazing. Also, go for one of the juices. My only complaint is that the portions are fairly small and it's a bit overpriced for what you get.

A local Mexican place with burrito's and other typical options. They usually feature a nice menu of the day option on weekdays. Basically, this is a daily meal offering for a good price. An example would be steak, rice, beans, plantains, salad and lemonade.

Nice salad spot with lots of amazing creations. The space has a cool design with lots of plants and cartoon vegetables on the walls. Also, you should try the green mango juice. It's not for everyone, but there's a good chance you'll love it.

A strange paradox of Colombia is that even though they produce much of the world's best coffee, most of it is exported. This is one of the few places challenging that. The cafe is owned by the son of a local coffee producer and features a number of local coffees, individually prepared by either french press or chemex, along with ...

A great selection of salads and decent pizzas for reasonable prices, along with some of the most affordable wine I've seen in Colombia (where taxes triple the price of inexpensive Chilean and Argentine vintages). Il Forno is a great choice in el Poblado, the carnival-like nightlife zone.

Medellin has a surprising amount of healthy food options. This place has a daily menu that features a raw food option, a vegetarian option, a fish option and a chicken. Each one features soup, juice and a small dessert. Amazing! It costs the equivalent of $5. There is also a sort of health food shop with a juice bar, along ...

So, if you want to try traditional Colombian food in a beautiful, well designed restaurant for a reasonable price than this is the place to go. They have most of the classic dishes for less than what you find around parque lleras, using higher quality ingredients. The space is modern and minimal using mostly wood. There's also a lot of ...

This is one of the most amazing restaurants I have come across so far. It's situated on a hill and features a small market on the street level and a restaurant further down the hill. A local Peruvian food spot that is also open late on weekends. There's a nice mix of Peruvian and Colombian food in a casual setting. I'd recommend the lomo saltado, which is a a mix of sliced tenderloin, sauteed with tomatoe and onion, potatoes and rice.

I was so thankful to find some simple food during my two months in Colombia living on varieties of cheesy bread and fruit juice. (Delicious, but still). Govinda is simple, cheap, a place you can go to stay healthy and feel good in a country that, much as I love it, doesn't always have the lightest fare.

Cool little cafe/bar that's only open from 4-10 PM. There's a small collection of books, photo covered walls and a huge window looking out on the street. One of the very few quality cafes in this area.

A convenient place to try some traditional Colombian food without leaving the main tourist area.
