The Chedi Club at Tanah Gajah

The Chedi Club, Ubud, Gianyar

This is my favorite restaurants in the Ubud area. I find the hotel itself to be a bit lackluster; however, the Restaurant and Club Lounge at the Chedi Club is a fantastic dining experience. The restaurant is a covered open air facility overlooking a beautiful rice paddy. The decor is rustic Indonesian and the food is exceptional. Go during the ...

It's easy to check out a traditional Kecak dance at one of Ubud's many temples. I bought mine while at the post office (the guy there was selling tickets for his brother's temple's show that night). The performance didn't feel touristy at all. I think they really just do the dance on a regular basis, and sell tickets to tourists ...

I'm really not a garden person, but Ubud's Botanic Garden is a perfect place to wind down, walk around and have a snack. It was ridiculously humid (more so than in the town), so expect to move slowly when you're here. Admission was about $1, and I pretty much had the place to myself. The cafe is definitely worth a ...

Filled with little knick-knacks to take home as souvenirs. Come early, right after opening to avoid the heat and humidity that wraps this market and makes it unbearable to go around.

The best way to really see village life in Bali is to do a cycling tour. The tour offered by Banyan Tree is a wonderful combination of moderate exercise and beautiful scenery. You are first taken higher into the hills surrounding Ubud center for breakfast at a restaurant overlooking Lake Batur and the incredible mountain tops which were once volcanically ...

After your session you can have the greatest lunch in Ubud at Little K restaurant and discover that raw food can be really exiting. Can't wait to go back!

Just one of hundreds of similarly priced spas that lines the streets of Ubud. Sang Spa is a notch above the rest in terms of atmosphere and quality. I've gotten a massage there and a facial, and both were incredibly nice and relaxing. The staff were really nice and attentive, food was great, and it ended up being a great ...

Bali is renowned for its art. Walking in Ubud, you will notice a lot of art shops. However, to understand Balinese art, one must make a trip to Neka's Museum. Originally a schoolteacher, Pak Suteja Neka was an avid collector. He had an excellent eye and built an extensive collection of artwork over the years. From classic to contemporary Balinese ...

The trip usually started with breakfast and a visit to the coffee plantation. Depending how much time you have, you can skip the first two.
