Happy Hour is M-F until 7pm
The Counter is a custom fancy burger joint. It gets pricy at times, but happy hour makes it a bit better. I definitely need to get the alcoholic shakes next time. Happy hour prices for them are 6 bucks down from 9.
-=-Slider-=- $2. They were tasty yes with cheese, tasty patty, and pickles, but I felt they weren't really worth it for the size they are. "4 of these sliders would add up to a pound of meat" (quoted), but buying 4 sliders for 8 bucks doesn't feel right, and I'd rather buy a burger if that's the case.
-=-Chili Cheese Fries-=- $3. Get this for happy hour specials. This seems to be the best deal and the best tasting fries variety.
-=-Parmesan Garlic Fries-=- $3. There was something really off with these. There was a flowery taste in them, like Rosemary. Regardless, these aren't your standard yummified garlic fries. I say pass.

The burger quest continues! The counter was suggested by several friends as having some of the best burgers on the block. Their website describes the restaurant having 300,000+ different variations available, each customized to the individual customer's needs. This certainly warrants a curious visit.
Modernly decorated in a quiet area of Santa Monica--one can easily miss this restaurant cruising down along the boulevard. Greeted by very friendly staff, you are presented with a 5-step half sheet filled with nearly 60 choices of cheeses, toppings, sauces, and bread types.
While you wait for a seat (the place can get pretty packed), it'll give you time to decide exactly what type of burger you are looking for--whether you want to build something classic, or something creatively cuisine, it is up to you. Topping choices range from the basics such as lettuce and tomatoes to interesting bits such as sun dried tomatoes or dried cranberries. Sauces also range from basic mayo to an apricot sauce or a peppercorn steak sauce. All you can really think about while you ponder your many choices are the next flavors you might try on your next visit.
The burger itself is a little bit of a catch-22 because as long as they properly grilled the patty (which they very well did), you can't fault the burger because YOU decided on it! So with that said, yes, my burger was just exactly the way I wanted it. I can only fault the enormous--I think it was the first time I actually had to utlize a fork and knife to manage this mass. A new menu item to check out would be their sweet potato fries; they are soft and sweet on the inside, but salted and crunchy on the outside. Large variety of beverages includes sodas, shakes & malts, and various beers and wines will round out your meal.
Tips / Suggestion:
*If you don't want to deal handling your huge burger, you can always opt to reiceve it in an atkins style salad form (which really does seem easier to consume in this case!)
*Don't want to wait in long queues? Grab a seat at the bar--its first come, first served.
