My favorite, favorite part of this hotel is the historic wing. Built out of the original train depot that sat on Washington Avenue there are a couple cool things here: the ice skating rink which was the actual train station and this historic wing, converted from old offices and store rooms joined to the station. So cool! Every room is a different shape and has themed furniture and decor. Even the hallways and lighting feel like you walked back in time. The modern wing has everything you need and some character too. The bar and restaurant and lobby are all spacious and there is also an outside patio area. This would be a great option for nostalgic travelers, families, or a romantic getaway.Recommended for

The Depot is one of the staging hotels for Team Ortho events, so I've stayed there several times. I can walk to and from the start. The neighborhood has plenty of services and restaurants. The hotel restaurant is decent. Parking can be a bit of a problem if you just need to stop by to pickup a run packet.

I like The Depot. From the wafts of delicious French Fries emanating from Charley’s Grill (a great place to meet and eat); to the “Winter Garden” where they host special events; to the awesome indoor water park; to the hotel’s proximity to downtown Minneapolis, the River, and many cultural attractions; this place has something to offer everyone. The various all-white statutes – the ghosts of train-goers past – remind guests that this hotel used to be a train depot. It’s worth noting that this hotel has two sections: the renovated side that feels like most modern hotels, and the historic side, which features one-of-a-kind digs with antique furniture and all.
In the winter, you can enjoy the ice skating rink next door. If you love it here so much you want to stay for a long time, consider the connecting Residence Inn with full kitchens in each room. Or just stay here.
