Tea room with a wide variety of tea and baked goods. Didn't have the best of service here and my scone was a bit too heavy for my liking but I'd definitely come back to try some of their pastries and sample more tea.

"Billionaires Shortbread" one up from the Millionaires version...The Chocolate Lounge at Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh is just heavenly. The menu is really hard to choose from and the cake examples on the conveyor belt don't make the decision any easier! Perfect treat for the family, a great end to a girly shopping trip or a romantic coupley thing to do. ...

Nice chap attended us. Food not the best I've ever tried. Very normal onion rings and the potato skins were pre-heated on microwave but served cold and not fresh. Burgers were normal.

I've had really mixed experiences of Jamie's. It's nice, but no nicer than any other Italian chain, but its prices are pretty steep in comparison. In my experience it is safe to order the simple dishes off the menu as they are less likely to mess them up, I've been on a few occasions when my foods been undercooked or ...

It's expensive to get in here, but part of the fun of being in Scotland is to make new friends and hopefully one of them will be a member. That's just what I did and they got me in to sample many different delicious scotches from private distilleries. They also serve food to go with the whiskey as well as ...

Great little place down some stairs to get some really good coffee and tea along with a carefully chosen menu of just plain good stuff. I had the spiced chai which did not come out of a can or box (hooray!) but had real tea and real spices that I had to filter out before drinking. Also had a delicious ...

My favourite place for the most delicious macaroons. It's a bit expensive for my budget but they're too good not to spend your money on at least once or twice in a blue moon! You can't sit in, only take away. Brownies, cupcakes, macaroons, cake pops, gluten free etc.

We had lunch in this former bank building now with white and hot pink walls and stylish minimalist decor amongst the pillars and coffered ceiling. Food was classic Italian and brought back happy memories of our Italian vacation. They have jazz events and appear to attract younger professionals, not surprising given the location amongst high end clothing stores and businesses. ...

This delicious restaurant in the center of Edinburgh was a great find after a day of sightseeing. A young, hip restaurant with a solid menu and reasonable prices, I would recommend it to anyone. Also, when you're done with dinner, head downstairs to "underdogs," which is a trendy lounge run by the same owners.

Tiny place that you'd miss if you didn't look down. Great for a cup of tea on the terrace or a coffee and pastry while sitting in one of the coveted seats next to the window. A local favorite.

This is sort of a coffee shop and deli. We went for breakfast because they have some of the best fresh brewed coffee in a town which seems to be in love with instant coffee. The food available for breakfast was quite limited. There are breads, pastries, cheeses, cured meats and pickled items under the glass counter of the deli ...

We went to the Tempus Bar which has a restaurant and attached to the George Hotel. The outdoor tables are on the pleasant George Street. It is a full bar not a pub. The interior has drawings by some of the Scottish Colourist artists -- very nice.

This is a bistro, salad bar and wine bar which still looks a bit like the late night hangout it used to be. The best place to get simple vegetarian dishes or food catering to allergies in a town not too friendly for non-meat eaters. It seems to be open at all hours for snacks or meals or just a ...

More of a upscale bar than a restaurant, we popped in here for a late lunch after shopping at nearby Harvey Nicks. Located in what looks like an old bank building with high ceilings, lots of windows and wood, the lunch menu provided a good selection of fairly standard fare including wraps, ciabattas, flat breads, sandwiches with fries, salads, pastas ...

This is a very unusual hotel that has very exclusive rooms looking like they are out of a fairytale. The Inner Sanctum is where Michael Douglas proposed to Catherine Zeta Jones.
