If I have to summarize this hotel in one word it would be: UNORGANIZED! Maybe I’m a little jaded because I had such high expectations (and had read some great reviews) and was disappointed from the very beginning. This hotel has some good qualities, but a few minor improvements here and there could make it a lot better.
The bad: Dated rooms, poor communication and check in, questionable housekeeping
The good: Good location, Lounge with coffee and tea, Free Wi-fi

    more detail:
    good:
Proximity to Union Square/within walking distance to many shops/restaurants/Bart/Cable Cars.
The lounge upstairs has some pretty nice views.

    ehh:
They have wi-fi but it was tough getting it to work and stay working.

    bad:
The maid just walked in without announcing herself loud enough for us to hear! It was relatively early in the morning and I thought we had put out a do not disturb sign to keep this exact thing from happening!

Outdated and ugly rooms, bad color scheme, maintenance issues in rooms

They make you sign in each time you come up to the lounge. Kind of weird if you ask me. Why not just require key card access like every other hotel?

The spa/jacuzzi was undergoing repair while we were there and it didn't look like they were exactly hurrying to finish.

Good location, free coffee at club level on the roof. Water pressure kinda low on the showers though

Room: Overall the hotel room was incredible!!! Modern decor, stainless steel mini frig, stainless steel microwave, marble counters, silverware/cups/dishes, candy dish, flat screen AND a TV in the bathroom mirror, yo!

Amenities: Don't know much about what the hotel offers, stayed only for one night.

Parking: reasonable! 24 hour parking costs $28.

Service: gave 4 start rating because hotel service was great! They were SO sweet, always ready to help and had informative answers. From the front lobby to the vallet to the house keeping!

Con: Looks a little dated in some spots, just very minor details though like the doors and bathroom floors.

The Donatello rooms are all very modern and spacious, offering plenty of room to comfortably house a king sized bed and a pullout couch. Highlight of their rooms are definitely the flatscreen TVs built into the mirror of the bathroom...so cool!

Even if the Donatello was a terrible hotel (which it absolutely is not), their lounge and outdoor patio on the 15th floor is enough to merit a stay. Open from 7AM-10:30PM, this part of the hotel offers a really awesome view of downtown San Francisco, making it a great place to hang out and chill with friends and family. They serve unlimited tea and coffee here as well.

For the vain and narcissistic people, their fitness center has walls that are completely covered with mirrors, so you can check yourself out while working out. ;)

Also, if you are a fan of the club Ruby Skye, it's literally right across the street!

The idea of a remote-controlled televisions embedded into hotel bathrooms is something that instantly seems very cool to me, then suddenly undesirable. (Think about it.) Digression. The rooms definitely offer some chic appointments, appropriate given the hotel feels really dated.

Service is spectacular. The people who work here are some of the friendliest I’ve ever met. Commendable staff.

Head up to the roof deck for some pretty sweet amenities. The view, complimentary Peet’s Coffee and fitness center are all located up here. The capable staff member behind the counter provides concierge service here as well. The gym is huge, offering even a hot tub and ample showers. It’s labyrinthian how the gym bathroom just keeps going on, and I’m glad it does because I never get to use the word “labyrinthian.”
