It's easy to miss this hotel. It has a somewhat drab exterior, and could simply be mistaken for one of the many Dupont Circle apartment buildings. But I was pleasantly surprised by the inside; the hotel has had a $52 million renovation. It is part of the Doyle Collection, one of a group of urban hotels in the U.S., U.K. and Ireland.
There was upbeat music playing in the lobby, and the front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The Cafe Dupont and the Bar Dupont are inviting, too. More happening on a Sunday morning than at many larger hotels. I watched one couple with a young child happily ensconced in front of a big screen TV, watching tennis at the Australian Open.

Nice place. I ended up here because the W was sold out an was pleasantly surprised. The location is very central - right on DuPont circle, 2 blocks from the metro with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The style is very modern and trendy, and the rooms are well furnished with nice lighting. The shower was great - good water pressure. My only complaint was the beds. They were very comfortable, but whoever made them didn't do a very good job - the sheets on both beds were all bunched up at the feet, which was strange.
They do have a cool bar downstairs, and Adams Morgan is close by for a different scene. I would stay here again.

The location, right on Dupont Circle, attracts tourists who like the convenience to metro as well as the restaurants and nightlife. But there also a lot of regulars, who do business in town and prefer a smaller hotel. There's a handy taxi stand right across the street.
I like to stroll north on Connecticut Avenue, which has just about everything – bookstores, cafes, used clothing stores, ice creams shops, etc. It's big with the business crowd during the day, but full of locals at night.
