The Embassy Inn is a small hotel located in the heart of Washington, DC. It's not a fancy hotel, but it's not sketchy either. It's also within walking distance to subway stops so it makes it a convenient location to get around.

You can see the White House from 16th Street in front of this little hotel. It is popular with Europeans, which is not surprising. It has an older, Continental feel to it. It's nothing fancy; the bedroom was small, and the bathroom spare. But it's cozy. And there's a comfortable sitting room up front.
This is a walking neighborhood – great old buildings amidst the row houses. If someone is coming to visit though, there is often two hour free parking on the street.

I like the comfy furniture in the hotel's sitting room. It feels like a family's den. The décor is very Old World. People visiting from abroad stay here when they come to attend conferences.
It's not a bad walk to Dupont Circle. And it's not far from the trendy, young U Street corridor with it's eateries, clubs and music venues. But the clientele here prefer to dine out on the more established, and quieter, 17th Street.
It's a nice jog down to the White House, and fun to stroll on the pedestrian only part of Pennsylvania Avenue.
