One of the nicest hotels I have ever set foot in! The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Their assortment of restaurants give you something exciting to do without ever having to step foot in the city.

SF's Grande Dame #3, behind the Palace and St. Francis. A frequent destination for big-time political fundraisers. Attended several events (not the aforementioned) here, plus a great stop to show visitors. Thank goodness they've dropped the idea of building condos.

Luxurious, classy, upscale.. Whatever you call it. I went there with some friends on Christmas eve and The christmas decoration inside and outside the hotel are beautiful. And I love the location. Close to downtown and the neighborhood is so nice.Recommended for:Luxury Travelers

Closest high I've ever gotten to in my life! Back in August 2008, my cousin was getting married. She decided to have her wedding at the Fairmont Hotel and reserved rooms there for us relatives and guests to stay. As I entered the hotel, I was fascinated with the lobby, the mezzanine, the little restaurants, spa rooms and the little shops. Two days before the wedding, my mother and I got delicious hot stone massages at the spa, and we ate at the Fisherman's Wharf down the street from where we were and finished the dinner with a nightcap at the Tonga Room with awesome live music on the themed boat. The next night before the wedding, Mom and I came back from the city tour and ate at the Tonga Room and it was buffet night. Food was good and we caught up with the relatives. This place is well worth staying at if you can afford it while in SF.

The Fairmont is the most elegant and decadent hotel in San Francisco. Located atop Nob Hill the view encompasses the entire city all the way to the ocean. The penthouse has been home to Bing Crosby, Katherine Hepburn, and Barack Obama. I slept like a queen!

I thought this was a terrific value for what we paid. The hotel lobby is straight from a movie (in fact, a number of films were shot at the hotel - including one of my favorite Sean Connery scenes in The Rock). It's a glamorous place that has fantastic views of the bay. We could see the Golden Gate from our window (15th floor, tower). With all the hills, the walks from the hotel are not for the un-fit, but cabs are readily available. The staff was extra-friendly, and every recommendation the concierge made played out beautifully. I highly recommend!
