Though it sees a disproportionate volume of South Africa's international tourist traffic making the trip eastward from Cape Town, the famous Garden Route is a place that, when you visit, you quickly see is popular for very good reason. With gorgeous beaches in Knysna, Wilderness, J-Bay and Plett (fine surfing as well!), the world's highest bungee jump in Storm's River, and a charming collection of town centers with fine dining, shopping, and nightlife, it's a must for anyone with a week to spend after Cape Town.

If you can, get a car and drive the garden route. Just keep in mind that you will be going in peak season, so making reservations well head of time is a MUST. Just drive carefully, don;t use that crazy middle lane to overpass other cars, and you might end up going barefoot like all locals. Cape Town reminds of San Francisco. So take layers and be ready for the oceanic breeze but take care with the sun too.

This is one you should allow two or three days to capture THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. Cannot be done in one or two days for that matter

Whether you're looking for a romantic escape or an adrenaline adventure, the Garden Route is totally the way to go. The scenic journey runs between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth in South Africa and offers an incredible range of activities along the way. Whether you're interested in spending a day at the beach, hiking the Otter Trail in Storms River national park, walking with elephants or swimming with seals in Plettenberg Bay, golfing at world class courses, exploring the art scenes, or jumping off the world's highest bridge bungee, you can do all this and a lot more along the Garden Route. All budgets are catered for; backpackers will find no shortages of hip and unique hostels, families can enjoy caravan parks and lodges, and those willing to spend a little more money will find a delightful selection of luxury guest ranches, B&Bs, and hotels to choose from. On top of all this, the drive offers some really stunning scenery.

You need to also get away from Cape Town's city hustle and bustle to experience the 'true' South African diverse cultures... and a company to contact for flexible, fun and affordable tours are: www.hotspots2c.co.za for multi-day package tours. The WESTERN CAPE WOW tours visit Cape Point, Stellenbosch, Winelands, Franschhoek, Hermanus, Cape Agulhas, Shark cage diving in Gansbaai and their 4day GARDEN ROUTE TOURS go to Mosselbay, Tsitsikamma forest, Wilderness, Oudtshoorn and many more must-see spots! Hotspots2c also offer an amazing day tour to Cape Point. :) Tour companies or booking agents is the best way to get good advise and get to see and do what the locals get up to in South Africa. Visit Cape Town Tourism desk in Cape Town > www.capetown.travel , they know Cape Town's best places to visit and best things to do.
