I've been to the Getty Center countless times. I love the collection. I love the architecture. I love the location. Where else can you partake in such a view of West Los Angeles? The Getty is home to an impressive collection of artwork. My most recent visit was to peruse the Herb Ritts LA Style exhibit. I like to catch the latest exhibition whenever I visit because I have already seen their permanent collection. Although it is nice to wander around the halls and gawk at the masterpieces. Parking is $15 per car and admission is free.

A great museum in LA? Who said culture is dead in the city of LA? Sitting on top of a large hill overlooking the neighborhood of Brentwood and the busy 405 freeway is a treasure trove of artistic achievement. It's a great way to spend the afternoon and sitting on the grand lawn.

What a great gift to people. This place is kick butt from angles. The views are spectacular. Come on a sunny day after a good rain and you will be treated to some of the most amazing views of the LA basin you will ever see.

Like the other reviews have mentioned. It's Free!

    Van Gogh's Irises is here!

Worth going to as a destination even if you don't like art. Some of the best views of the west part of the city. And it's even free (except for the parking).

The Getty Center is AMAZING as a building for its architecture and landscape, and has fantastic views. You can bring your own picnic even, and lounge on the garden grass or wherever you find a nice spot and spend hours! It's truly impressive to any visitor who has more than a couple of days to spend here. It's also fun parking and then riding the tram up. Parking costs, but its free per person, so load up the van!!

The only reason I would not give the Getty 5 stars is for the artwork itself, it's not my style, and most of it stays the same except for one or two changing artwork exhibits and a photography area. For the most part it's not exactly contemporary or modern. So if old school Renaissance etc is your thing, check out the artwork. If not, the building and gardens and sculptures themselves make this place awesome. Even their dining options are great!! And I did enjoy the architecture tour, nothing in this place was unplanned!

This museum is one that a person can visit over and over again to catch the alternating exhibits. It is a beautiful structure overlooking the city and on a clear day on can see the ocean as well. You may also enjoy the Getty Museum at the beach, which details a Roman house and gardens-very interesting.

Park at the base of the hill and take a little tram ride up/down the mountain and get a peek at some rather large houses along the way. At the end of the short ride is a historian/art lover's paradise. If I were ever to become a teacher, I'd try to get in as many field trips here as possible. Grab some food and lunch by the water. Heck, if I had the money, I'd move right in to the Victorian/Elizabethan era suites.

Beautiful, huge. Great architecture, great garden. Not the most exciting museum I've seen, but this is definitely a place worth visiting.

when it comes to spending my days at a museum I'm usually not one to jump right on it but this place rocks my world. I can usually spend the entire day here all by myself looking at all of the great work. This is a fantastic place to take a date as well but if I could get one I would take her here for sure and cruise the garden.

I'm not art enthusiast, however it took $1 Billion to built the Getty Center and the building design is outstanding, Getty center is truly one of the most beautiful museum in the world.

You have to visit Getty Center while in LA, check out Getty collections and take some picture in the garden.

P.S. good place to bring your date.

This is a great place to spend half a day without spending too much. There is no admission fee, but just a parking fee of $8-10 per car. The museum is impressive both inside and out. The inside has an extensive art collection which covers all time periods. The water fountain and gardens in the outside of the museum are a great place to enjoy some sun.

The best museum in Los Angeles. Rotating exhibitions are consistently unique and outstanding, but my favorite aspect? The beautiful gardens with full vistas of the city.

This is located off the 405 and parking has gone up to $15 now, but it's free on Saturday's after 5pm. Get there early though, because the line is long at that time to find a spot. The little train takes you up the hillside for a beautiful view of the city. Inside you'll find small exhibits that you can do in about an hour's time, so it's ideal for picking out a few things if you've only got 1-2 hours. The gardens are fantastic and sunset is my favorite time. They've got several gift shops and a restaurant. You can also take food up for a picnic outside with the whole family.

Great views over Los Angeles and the pacific ocean. Amazing architecture, great exhibits, and wonderful gardens. Check out their concerts. And another nice thing: you only pay for parking, the rest is free.

This beautiful art museum can be seen impressively from the 405, but don't let that satisfy you. Please buy a ticket and go on in. You'll be glad you did. Thank you, Getty family.

Pros: Great architecture, very modern with a nice garden and outdoor common area. I think the draw here is heading over on a nice day, putting together a nice picnic basket with good wine - and then enjoy (sun architecture and good food). I highly suggest this activity.

Cons: Overall exhibits are okay (check which traveling exhibits are in town at the time of visit before you go - if this is your main focus).
