Must see when you are visiting LA, or have visitor to LA. Beautiful architecture, very specific to the region. You can spend days exploring the exhibits.

Set atop the low-lying hills of West L.A., the Getty is one of the most stunning spots in the city. On clear days (after high winds or heavy rain has dissipated the city's trademark smog blanket) visitors can see all the way to Catalina Island. Though the Getty houses a more than formidable collection, I tend to spend most of my time gaping at the elegant architecture (made from local limestone) or wandering the perfectly kept grounds. However, I always make sure to take a gander at the new, often unusual exhibits in town.

The Getty is a great museum with a fabulous permanent collection. The trip up to the museum is a little spooky and the fortress-like structure is too full of light to be a perfect space for looking at art, but this is still a spot not to miss.

With gorgeous views overlooking the beach and Los Angeles, the Getty Museum is a great spot for a weekend out. It has excellent architecture, a full restaurant with an extensive wine list, and guided tours if you choose. Also, there are many semi-private nooks and crannies to relax in.
