In the 1980s if you weren't a member here then you were nobody. Founded by Joel Cadbury, heir to the confectionery fortune, this is where the worlds of media, advertising and entertainment collided in a champagne-fuelled display of Thatcherite excess. Today it's a more sedate affair under new ownership (a venture capital fund). I'll still remember a now infamous night there when a (now dead) former colleague of mine was so legless he mistook the bar for a urinal.

I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are small and the place isn't fancy but its members are an eclectic group of artists and it is easy to enjoy yourself here. The atmosphere is quite friendly and it really picks up late evenings and on weekends.
Celebrity sightings are common but don't dare gawk or make a scene.

Known as the place to be if you are in the film & tv industry, it's very much a see and be seen kind of place. Generally you can only get in with a member or if you are a recognizable celebrity - the door men don't do well with "don't you know who i am" malarkey. An intimate bar, with secluded tables. Food is good, but its more drinking that gets done here, and movie deals. Definitely an interesting time to be had, eavesdropping and celeb spotting.
