Everyone should do at least one prom. Or two. Standing in the pit can be fun, but well worth regular tickets. Great acoustics, impressive historic venue. Amenities aren't quite what you'd expect in the States, but they're getting there. And you can't beat the people watching.

Need a place for the toddlers to blow off steam? This playground in Kensington Gardens (the west side of Hyde Park) is really fantastic. There is an ship the kids can climb in, tee pees and forts. If you don't want to pack a lunch for a picnic the cafe in the park is really quite nice.

Truly difficult to find. But once we found it, there was little else to do but snap a quick photo and walk away. Somewhat anti-climactic, since the statue failed to come to life... at least while we were there.

An artist friend took me here on a visit to London. I really enjoyed walking there through the park, and the fancy London-y feel of the whole thing. The art we saw was beautiful and well-hung, so to speak. While the experience wasn't transcendant, it's worth popping in for a bit of modern artsy-ness.

The quiet from the city life was much needed. Also found several stops and resting places. The best was in taking afternoon tea at the Orangery, a must do if you like tea. Yes, I am a yank from the USA.

I adore this place, mainly for reasons of nostalgia than what it is today. The art deco building it sits atop of has been known variously as Derry & Toms department store (opened in the 1940s and closed in the 1970s), then the legendary Biba fashion store and today offices and a rather swish and expensive health club. The Grade ...

Incredible pub near Marble Arch. On Sunday nights a woman named June who is in her 80s plays piano while all the old timers sing traditional British songs. It is an amazing scene and something you must see when you come to London.
