One of the top hotels in San Francisco, The Huntington Hotel drips with old-world elegance. And that absolutely includes its elegant Big 4 restaurant. The type of restaurant your grandparents would have loved (if they were really, really hip grandparents), the menu is upscale classic American: iceberg lettuce and bay shrimp salads, wild boar chops, and more.

What makes staying at the Huntington Hotel so special? Perhaps it is its fantastic location: perched at the peak of legendary Nob Hill, one of San Francisco’s oldest upscale neighborhoods, and though the gorgeous cityscape spans below, it is all a mere hop away—the shopping, the museums, the top notch restaurants.

Perhaps it is the grace and grandeur of the legendary building itself: its turn of the century detailing, its landmark sign, its classic San Francisco ambiance. Perhaps it is the oasis offered by its world-class spa, encompassing the entire lower level with one long, decadent sigh of relaxed abandon. Perhaps it is the welcoming attentiveness of a staff that makes you feel as though you are their one and only, very special, much honored guest.

Whatever is at the top of your list, what truly makes the Huntington House so special is that it combines all of these marvelous attributes into one very special package.

The first word that comes to mind when walking into The Huntington Hotel is "elegance". From the lobby to the room, everything is perfectly arranged and kept. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very modern, with the outside rooms having great views overlooking the park and church down below. Careful though, if you're on the 3rd floor or below, you will definitely hear the cable car going by outside.

My favorite part of the hotel was the "Relaxation pool" with an outside balcony overlooking San Francisco. There is no lap swimming or splashing allowed in the pool (so I guess that means no one is really allowed in it because what else do you do in a pool?) but the serene water and amazing views offer a very peaceful environment to just chill in. Just outside of the pool area is a room where you can get a manicure/pedicure, which I hear women enjoy for some reason.

All in all, if you have the money to be pampered, The Huntington Hotel is the place to go!

You know, I expected more from such a famous San Francisco landmark hotel. I'm not sure if it's a failing of the Huntington or just the nature of the the old building in which it resides, but I felt as though the price you're paying for a room at the top Nob Hill might be better spent elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong-- the rooms here are comfortable, well kept, and nice. The price just seems disparate. I also have to question a high-end hotel that has a gift shop in the lobby-- a lobby that would, otherwise, be rather elegant.

In any case, the views are nice (both of Grace Cathedral and the park as well as of the city), the big 4 restaurant is a great place for a drink or dinner (though you could come here regardless of whether you stay at the Huntington or not), and the location on top of the hill couldn't be better.

One of my all time favorite haunts when staying in SF. In a gorgeous area. Traditional decor if you want to take a break from SF mod. And the Spa -- reason alone to stay there!! Amazing treatments, the best spa boutique ever (a spa treatment in and of itself :), an amazing still indoor infinity pool, and amazing lunch on the terrace with overview of the city. A getaway even if you live in the City. Think vacation or staycation. Enjoy ;)

Great location, clean and comfortable rooms, love Big 4 (restaurant) for evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, quaint European feel. Special older hotel. Wonderful spa.
