There are approximately 30,000 people who live in all of the Yukon Territory, of which around 23,000 live in Whitehorse. And chain store-wise, there's a lot here including McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Tim Hortons and Starbucks. But there are also the local businesses that continue to survive on unique variety and good customer service. One of those places in the Java Connection.
I wandered in one morning intent on a coffee and a nosh to go. But I was so warmly greeted and the seating and space was so comfortable that I decided to sit down and linger a bit. The coffee and the pear/ginger scone were delicious and the local conversations I listed to were enjoyable. They also have a large variety of coffee and tea-related sundries available for sale and even have a meeting room available for use.
And since nothing in downtown Whitehorse is a significant walk, please take a Starbuck's break and hang out instead at the Java Connection.
