Very fancy hotel. Valet parking only, though, which costs $25. Renaissance paintings and furniture add to the classiness of the atmosphere. A very beautiful piece of architecture.

Must have: horchata espresso. Great coffee shop to sit and spend some time - it's also very kid friendly and has a small play area in the back. The same owners have a sandwich place right across the street called Schodorf's Luncheonette, in case you need a break for more than the few food items they have in the cafe!

    Half & Half Tea House

Half & Half stands out from its competitors because of their fat cups. Their cups are literally fat. So fat they don't fit in normal cup holders in your car. Their drinks are on the pricier side but the quality is pretty good and their portion size is large. So I guess it all evens out in the end. The ...

I ordered the arepa La Propia. Arepa is a bun made of corn flour. The sandwich had shredded beef, smoked Gouda and salsa verde. The bun was interesting and the sandwich reminded me of a tamale. I wish the cheese had been more melted though, but it was still very good! The tekes are little pastries with cheese, and come ...

The one major con about eating at Benten is trying to find a parking spot. You have to hope you're lucky to score a spot. With 7 Eleven and Golden Deli in the same plaza ... good luck trying to find a spot. And because Benten is so tiny, if you're lucky finding a spot to park, you might not ...

A Sunday just isnt a Sunday without brunch at Antigua. Fast, friendly service, and delicious latin style breakfast. The food: Here are some of my favs, the antigua breakfast(with bread), the chapin, enchiladas plate, and chilaquiles! When I want a sandwich or something, I'd go for their chicken pesto sandwich; it's delicious, and the fries are nice and crispy. The ...

It is a must to get their green onion sesame bread. I prefer the baked version over the fried version. Get a clay pot dish and the bread is even better with the sauce from the clay pot. The knife cut noodles are also a must try here. The noodles are good stir fried with seafood or you can get ...

I got the tonkotsu ramen which chashu pork. It comes with egg, black mushrooms, green onion, and ginger. The other toppings are additional, but the ramen is around $7 so even if you add on, it's still cheap. The broth was creamy, flavorful and not too salty, there was plenty of noodles and my bowl filled my ramen craving on ...

    Indian Restaurant

3.02 mi from The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, Los Angeles

This is a Taiwanese beer house. They have great, bold Taiwanese dishes. Stinky tofu is one of their popular dishes. I also like the duck tongue and chicken or squid with basil. Get there a little before they open to ensure you'll get a table because the line can get really long.

So much better than the nearby coffee shop chains! Better coffee, better lattes, much better atmosphere! There are lots of comfy chairs throughout the warehouse-like building and some nice big tables for studying. They have live music some days too!

    Roy's

I'm very turned off by chain restaurants. 99% of the time it means, to me personally, that the place is owned by rich corporate mofos who care more about the $, thus the food is of lower quality and the restaurant itself lacks soul. I found out that Roy's is the other 1%. Keep up the good work.

As a college kid at Occidental in Eagle Rock, Blue Hen was one of my favorite places to eat (and not only because it's nearby and fairly cheap). The menu is creative and almost all of the ingredients are locally sourced, making for fresh, flavorful dishes. As a word of warning, the restaurant is packed into a small venue (I ...

DineLA experience # 4: a positive one! Very empty at lunch which always worries me, but then again I came around opening time, by the time I left groups starting coming in so that explained that.
