Every bit as elegant as its sister location (The Langham Yangtze), this style-savvy new comer combines a tried and true recipe for 5-star hotel service with an excellent location and a bit of panache. An eye catching exterior gives way to a Zen aesthetic inside, livened up with fresh flowers and the occasional swatch of animal print. 40-inch LCD TVs, floor-to-ceiling windows and rain showers come standard in all the rooms, as do heated bathroom floors (one of my personal favorite features). Weary business travelers will be happy to note the Langham’s trademark Chuan Spa offers a unique blend of Chinese and Western massage techniques including acupuncture and a warm algae wrap infused with aromatherapy oils. Adjacent to the award-winning spa is a state of the art fitness facility complete with 25-meter indoor heated lap pool.Recommended for:

This luxury hotel has a great location, right across from Xintiandi and very near shopping areas like Huaihai Road.
The rooms are very modern, with ample room, good bed and all the other things you expect from a five star hotel. Breakfast is also very good with a nice selection.
My one gripe with this hotel is that it is too modern. This close to Xintiandi a design with a little Shikumen architecture influence would have been nice. However it does the job and the location is great.Recommended for:

Located in the tourist center of Xintiandi walking distance to People’s Square and the Bund (if you’re a big walker) the Langham Xintiandi is a wonderful representative of the global brand. The staff is very welcoming and warm upon arrival and check-in in the very lush and glitzy lobby. While the lobby is a but girly for some (lots of pinks and golds) the upper levels are the typical Langham rich colors and fabrics. XTD elevated is the hotel’s newest addition and is a great way to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Xintiandi area but not have people right on top of you. Located on the 5th floor of the hotel, the outside restaurant has a Latin inspired menu is perfect for an afternoon lunch or for grabbing a cocktail in the early evening. Rooms are lovely as is expected with comfy beds and all the amenities that one may need whilst traveling abroad, including but not limited to the super high-tech Toto toilets. If you haven’t come across one of these prepare yourself because all rooms are furnished with one. If you have the time be sure to explore beyond the Xintiandi area because only a few blocks away you will find yourself lost in the alleyways and streets of old Shanghai, it’s a huge contrast to the re-created tourist area and is definitely a must see while in China.

This newly opened hotel sits caddy corner from the bustling restaurant and shopping area of Xintiandi. It’s got its own superb dining outlets, but with Xintiandi literally across the street, guests are encouraged to get out of the hotel and explore the cuisine of Shanghai. The lobby is large, open and… pink. Well, not the whole lobby, but there is a section where you can purchase Langham goods in trademark pink and brown. The beautifully designed guestrooms have a 70’s vibe and great views of Xintiandi below. Their Chinese dining outlet, Ming Court, has an all you can eat Dim Sum offer on Saturdays, and some of the most beautiful flatware I’ve seen. It’s all designed by a local artist, so each plate is individually beautiful. Also on the 5th floor is XTD Elevated, the al fresco lounge that is perfect for an evening cocktail under the city lights. Venturing down to the basement you’ll find the spa and fitness center. In contrast to the bright lobby, the spa feels like a hidden urban retreat. With its 5 star service and excellent location in the center of Shanghai, the Langham exudes the class and elegance you’d expect from one of Shanghai’s nicest hotels.
