Looking for an authentic, neighborhood-style restaurant? El Fogon is one of Playa's best and most popular. The atmosphere is fun, and you'll see a nice mix of tourists and local families dining on tacos and drinking cold beer. Don't miss their Nachos con Pastor, made with pork roasted right in front of you on the famous Fogon.Popular withBudgetLocalFoodies

This beach restaurant/ bar was recommended to us by our concierge when we asked where to go in Playa del Carmen that is a chill non touristy beach venue. The Tulum Dream hotel staff knows how to recommend a venue! Zenzi caters more to the backpacking crowd... Super low-key and there for the sole purpose of digging their feet in ...Popular withBackpackers

Alux Restaurant, Bar and Lounge emerges within the depths of a naturally formed cavern. The restaurant’s interiors have metamorphosed for thousands of years to create the visual spectacle of countless stalactites and flowstones. Awe your senses as we delight your palate with our fine Mexican and International cuisine. The enigmatic energy of the ancient Mayans is felt everywhere in this ...Popular withNightlifeLuxuryDesign
Conveniently located right along the highway, Oscar & Lalo's is a family run restaurant that serves very fresh local fishes and cuisine. The Chaya magarita is a much try. There are both indoor and outdoor dining areas where both give very comfortable and relaxing feel, perfect for a lazy and relaxing lunch. They also have hammocks in the back garden ...
A favorite haunt for breakfast after our hotel offering was found wanting. It's not very exotic or inventive food, but it is solid and reliable. It's basically just a hipster cafe, picked up and placed into Isla's bustling Centro. My father claims it is the best coffee on island.Popular withBudgetFoodiesTrendsters
The Legend began in 2005 and quickly became the talk of Cozumel. Renowned for mega, hand crafted margaritas, great food, service and a jovial atmosphere, this is the place to be. While at the bar, their friendly bartenders are always up for some lively conversation. They offer a variety of dishes, drinks, live entertainment and the best hand crafted mega ...Popular withBusiness
Often overlooked, right next to Margaritaville but better food and drink prices. A small man made "beach" area right on the water, you can jump off and go snorkeling, there is an old wrecked single engine plane about 10 ft off the white swimming platform. Great place to watch the sunset while eating or drinking your dinner.
Every time I go through Playa, I make a pit-stop at this shrimp-taco place on the highway. If you're staying _in_ Playa, it's a little bit of a schlep back out to 307, but soooo worth it. The tacos are simple: perfectly fresh shrimp in a tempura batter, fried until perfectly crispy and set on a tortilla with a squidge ...Popular withLocalBudgetFoodies
If it feels like you're eating in someone's house...you are. This total bargain set-lunch place is very friendly, and indeed, you're sitting in the backyard while the owner cooks up your lunch in her kitchen. There's usually a choice of a couple of dishes each day, and the price includes beans and jamaica (hibiscus) drink and tortillas, and perhaps even ...Popular withFoodiesLocalBudget
