This is a most inspirational Tour. The history and the people are just amazing. The walk up into the top of the pyramid was an experience to remember. The view of the Yucatan was breathtaking. I absolutely will do this again.

Great history and architecture built from Mayan pyramids. Located in the Central Plaza. A terrific spot to hang out anytime and best on the weekends when streets are closed to traffic for pedestrians.

    Coba Ruins

Depends on what you like--and I loved it. This is the most ancient of the ruins and thus, the one in most "ruin." It's in a jungle also. Some people love that, some don't: I did as a history buff. It has the Mayan calendar there: the one that so-called predicted the end of the world 2012 (it was a ...

    Isla Mujeres

Flew to Cancun from San Francisco to visit the mayan ruins. Started in Isla Mujeres, which was awesome (not touristy like Cancun and Playa del Carmen and Cozemel). Took bus to Playa del Carmen, then to Coba ruins, then to Chicheniza (sp), stayed at Dolores Alba Hotel near ruins, then after exploring the awesome ruins took bus to Merida, then ...

Beautiful ruins and cenote. The museum is great too. Take a bathing suit but change into it before you leave the museum area. There are no facilities near the cenote. Use reef-safe sunblock or none at all if you plan to swim.

Quintana Roo is the state that covers the eastern half of the Yucatan Penninsula and is loaded with sites to see and incredible ruins. Ecab Explorer

    2 reviews

This is a one-man tour operator offering a bunch of regional excursions; tours are limited to small groups so the service is really personalized. It's been a while since I went on a tour with Ecab Explorer but I remember they were a bit off the beaten track, including visits to Maya villages, lesser-known arcaheological sites, and the Punta Laguna ...

    Cancun Beach

I would give the sand SIX stars. The limestone and shell sand is a fine powder which does NOT get hot even on a blisteringly hot day. It is AMAZING. The water goes from a deep blue to aqua, then turquoise all the way to white foam. The whole family spent hours collecting shells, walking for miles, and body surfing. ...

I discovered Chac Mool with Gary Walten in the 1990's. We explored this cave long before it became a tourist destination. It is a beautiful cenote, and the cool waters are great for a dip on a hot day.
