Melt is inside the Westfield Mall in San Francisco, in the Emporium Food court. They serve mainly Gelato and thin Crepes, perfect pick-me-ups after a long day shopping inside the mall, or after eating a bite at the other adjacent eateries. A 2 flavor medium gelato cup is $5.15.

The grilled cheese sandwiches are very tasty. They are also very Gluten Free conscious. They even designate specific grillers just solely for GF orders. The only problem is that the sandwiches are not too big.

Woohoo! Grilled cheese and soup! I had the weekly special - truffle pecorino on SF sourdough (added bacon) plus creamy wild mushroom soup. Came with chips and a pickle. I was surprised by the technology...live updates on the screen as your order is being worked on and is ready. If you order online, you scan your phone at the counter.
I also noticed that all the utensils and containers are comparable! Even the napkins! That's awesome...thanks for being sustainable. The food is all natural too.
The food isn't exactly cheap and you do have to wait in line, but I like the combos they have to choose from and I'll probably be back to try different sandwiches.

Great service, delicious fondue and a cute space. I've walked by Melt! so many times, but only recently stopped in for food. It's great for couples, as the space isn't too big. It has a cool bohemian atmosphere, made even cooler with the great live band.

I eat here way more often than I should. Unfortunately for my jeans, my office is just around the corner and I sneak over several times a week.
I love the grilled cheese here.....I'm not sure what they put on the bread, but if they canned it and sold it I would buy it. It's some sort of garlic powder / red pepper flake mixture that the sprinkle on the bread--anyways, it's amazing.
The soup is great too, but the grilled cheese steal the show. Do I dip? You bet your free bacon and tomato I do....and you should too.
Also, I really enjoy the ordering online feature where you can just order and pay online and then when you get there you just scan the code on your smartphone, skip the line, and next thing you know you're stuffing your face.
EDIT: I've lowered my rating. They've raised prices and I can no longer get the same lunch for less than $10....more like $12-13. Not a huge deal, but my waistline will probably be happy to hear I won't be going nearly as much.

A chic spin of American comfort food grilled cheese and soup. The Melt offers simple menu with only 5 grilled cheese sandwiches and 5 soups, but they are all pretty yummy and have cool names like Italian job, the outlaw, etc. The store has a clean design and old school feel to it. There are a few high tech elements, like you can monitor where how long till your order is ready on a big flat screen, and order online to get a QR code that you can scan at store to pick up your melt.

This place is awesome.
It's a small, beautiful and cozy place. These guys are really Eco-friendly and their menu is great.
The melts and soups are the perfect combo, specially in a chilly day.
The mushroom soup is awesome, in case you need a tip on what to order ;)
