This is as trendy as it gets when it comes to boba/bubble tea/milk tea. There have been several occasions where I've passed by and the line is out the door. I prefer their Burlingame location, which is double the size of this one and not as crowded.

Relaxing bar/lounge in the downtown San Mateo that offers happy hour for drinks and food from 4 -10pm, under attic also serves daily food specials (on day of visit it was bone marrow thursday). Awesome!

a great venue for fundraiser events, level 236 occupies a very large ground floor space that also has a raised stage area. I only have been here for fundraisers and organized events but this also seems like a good club with ample dancing space, lounging area, and well stocked bar.

This place used to be way better. They remodeled within the last couple of years, and now their selection is tiny and overpriced. They also used to have a ladies discount, which was totally sexist, but I loved it anyway. Now I go in occasionally with friends to browse, but we all try to remember the name of whatever product ...

As with any spa, the music is soft and soothing. Rather than an eclectic mix of nature and and melody, however, it feels like the songs here are intentionally chosen to evoke your emotions (elation, enlightenment, inspiration). This pairs well with the relaxing and pampering facial, with several different cream applications (no abrasives). For both facials and massages, you're given ...

This grocery is a great find. The selection for the common Japanese grocery items is about the same as a small size Nijiya Market. Definitely not as extensive as the bigger Mitsuwa. What really stood out is the the sashimi counter. You can order your toro sliced by pound. Just pick what you want and you don't have to go ...

This happens to be my favorite of the bay area bridges... I love how it lays flat across the surface straight as an arrow with a crest at the end that just launches you across to the east bay from the peninsula... I have driven the length of this bridge innumerable times. So long as you avoid the rush hour ...

In this small Japanese strolling landscape garden, nannies let their toddlers run around the miniaturized trees while senior citizens eat their brown-bag lunches in front of the traditional teahouse steps. A high-rise office building in the background disrupts the scenery, but this is still a gorgeous place to meditate and chill out. It's free! If you want a more elaborate ...

Never partied up in San Mateo before, but when I showed up for the YELP Elite Spook-Tacular, it turned out that San Mateo may not be so bad afterall; held at the Level 236 nightclub, the venue was of moderate size, with cool lighting effects and great DJs. The servers are friendly and there is a large dance floor in ...

Draeger got me the moment I saw the huge display counters filled with all kinds of chocolates, cookies, pastries and cakes. I almost slammed into their glass door. I am a snob when it comes to chocolate. I would only indulge in the best of the best. I was quite intrigued by their selection of chocolate but still quite hesitant. ...

Hidden behind a small doorway are stairs to the basement home of Tuesday Morning. Think of it as a shabby chic version of TJ Max or Marshall's, but more eclectic. Since I no longer buy dolls and toys, the way that I can continue to support Talbot's is by patronizing them for bicycle accessories. They carry a quality selection with prices comparable to REI.

Like many of other reviewers, I only found out about this place because of the Groupon deal. $25 for $60 worth of gourmet French food items, doesn't it sound awesome? It was pretty awesome indeed. I browsed through their store and it didn't take me too long to realize I want some foie gras and escargots. The staff saw us ...

Nice venue for private parties and events with a cute Cuban theme decor. This place held a party for about 150 people quite comfortably. Locke Heemstra is Gayle's former boyfriend and a very talented photographer. You'll find him at many of the better local arts festivals. And after meeting him myself several times, Gayle is right that he's also a good guy. Locke's photos feature natural wonders and quaint European locales such as a cafe, a door, and a stunning water shot. One signature ...
