The most beautiful church ever, a project by one of the most importants brazilian architects. On the entrance, pass through a dark passage to find the light was a fenomenal idea replicated in many others churchs around the world. The angels hanging like in heaven and the beautiful colored glass make this church unique.

A national landmark and the most impressive hyperbolic style cathedral built in 1970 by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. The structure is stylishly built in concrete with a glass roof opening to the sky along with vibrant stained glasses. The interior features three sculptures of angels suspended by steel cables, an oval Baptistery covered by painted ceramic tiles and a crypt where a replica of the ‘Shroud of Turin’ is preserved.

Description

The Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral de Brasilia), Brasilia’s primary church for the Archdiocese, holds masses for over one million Christians in the Brazilian capital. The cathedral’s seemingly minimalist exterior of 90 ton pillars interspersed with stained glass conceals a reproduction of the Shroud of Turin within its crypt. Brasilia, like the District of Columbia in the USA and the Federal ... read more
District (Mexico City) in Mexico, is the seat of the federal government. There are over 2.5 million residents in Brasilia, making the Cathedral the focal point of worship for this overwhelmingly Catholic nation.
