From the High Street Kensington tube station (Circle and District Lines), it’s about an eight-minute walk to The Milestone Hotel. The Milestone is the signature property of Red Carnation Hotels and it’s adjacent to Kensington Gardens. The Milestone is traditionally English with 45 guest rooms, 12 luxurious suites and six apartments with service that is prompt—and I mean instantaneous. By the time I hung up the phone after requesting something, there was a gentle tap at my door. No wonder the hotel was awarded Best Service Winner by Condé Nast in their 2013 Awards for Excellence. The hotel has a long list of other accolades, as well, including being voted number four in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards in their Top City Hotels in Europe category.
Here are my 10 reasons to stay at The Milestone Hotel:

The Milestone is an uber classic luxury boutique hotel set on a couple of 19th Century listed Victorian townhouses overlooking Hyde Park and Kensington Palace in the fashionable Kensington/Chelsea district. Each of its 56 guestrooms is beautifully decorated with a blend of vintage furniture and modern entertainment apparatus. Terraces gardens, fireplaces, four-poster beds and freestanding baths are features in some of the rooms; the Safari and Buckingham suites are especially over-the-top. Additionally, Champagne, Green Tea or Sherry on arrival along comfortable bathrobes, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet, designer toiletries, and Bentley car service for guest transfer and shopping are standard treats to all guests. The property lacks spa, but offers good treatment and sauna rooms, a small swimming pool along with a fully equipped gym. An impressive wine collection including more than 400 vintages coupled with a good selection of modern British flavors can be enjoyed at its fine Cheneston’s Restaurant. Both, the trendy Conservatory and the classic Stables Bar are good spots for pre-theater drinks and/or small bites, and Park Lounge with its open fireplace and armchairs is one of the nicest spaces for traditional afternoon tea in town. The hotel also arranges perfect picnic and/or Afternoon Tea at the Hyde Park on order. The experience is superb, the service from receptionists to mixologists is especially remarkable, and prices are set accordingly.Recommended for:

A really old-school luxury hotel, the Milestone has great service, lovely rooms, and a location just off Kensington High Street. The service is almost over the top attentive (the butler offered to unpack my suitcase). Being a bit of a closet product junkie, I really appreciate the fact that they have Penhaligon's toiletries, as well.Recommended for:
