I've done a couple of birthday party and bachelorette parties at the Nines, and the rooms and service were excellent. In fact, the last room I had here was a teal, black and white design so lovely, it inspired a home decor update.

Location is great for out of towners, just a block away from Pioneer Square and the Max lines that will get you anywhere you want to go. If you do have a rental car, know that parking is not included in the hotel cost and I believe it runs about $20/day here. Not much if you're used to NYC prices, but slightly steep for Portlanders.

I've eaten at the lobby bar a number of times, have had dinner & drinks at Departure and lunch at The Urban Farmer. The food and drinks are excellent, and even locals want to drink and dine here. Departure reminds me of a spaceship, and I'm pretty sure it was built at a slant so you always feel slightly off kilter. But the roof top patio is a killer option for happy hour in the summer and fall.

**RETRO GLAM HOTEL WITH 5 STAR PERKS**

NOTE: Lobby is on the 8th floor.

We were not able to check-in early (which was fine) and we had our bags stationed there for a few hours.

We had room #851, a beautiful corner room with breath-taking unobstructed city views. I strongly recommend this double room. Large and in charge!

The bathroom was so large, it was rather awkward. It was like they didn't know what to do with the remaining space.

The bed was comfortable, but not as *heavenly* as I would like. The mattress felt lopsided and the sheets were not as soft (higher thread count, please!).

They did *turn down* , a pleasant service offering truffles and a thoughtful note card in your room. I liked that.

Extra pros were the Departure (roof deck lounge and restaurant) and Urban Farmer (8th floor restaurant) onsite. Both good dining alternatives.

The hotel is centrally located in downtown, walking distance to nearby food carts and upscale shopping.

Helpful concierge and friendly staff over all.

    RECOMMEND.

The Nines is a great place to stay while visiting Portland. The staff is polite and helpful. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Love their mini gym for my early morning workout.

Great hotel, great service, and definitely great place with a companion. Cheers!

Loved this hotel!! I definitely would stay here again.

The decor is very modern and chic. The rooms don't have windows looking out to the street. Instead your room window opens to the center of the hotel overlooking the "courtyard" that consists of their restaurant and lounge area. Our room had a modern Tiffany & Co theme, and we laughed when we found the romance kit they provide with the other amenities.

TIP: we got a good deal at $136/night for 2 queens so keep an eye out for when they have cheap rates!

the Nines is a glam, chic, sexy, cool (and all other synonyms) type of hotel. I scored an excellent deal on the Nines' website during a sold out weekend for stay one night get the second for 50% off in a city view deluxe corner room, which came out to about $400 total. Prior to arriving, their concierge sent me a welcome email and asked if I had any special requests, which I thought was a nice touch. This is great if you're celebrating a special occasion, because they do send you a nice congratulatory treat.

The room was stunning, with soothing hues of Tiffany blue, taupe and cream. And the view - it was amazing! Since it was a corner room, there was a panoramic view of the Courthouse and downtown. Try not to get a room that faces inside - your view will be of the restaurant below. The bathroom was so big you could do cartwheels inside. Luxurious bath products from Gilchrist & Soamies were a big plus. And while the bedding was very comfortable, the bed was not a heavenly bed (the Nines is a Starwood property), so that was probably the only gripe I had.

Departure, their penthouse Asian Fusion restaurant and open air lounge, is super chic and has amazing happy hour specials. And you'll find a bunch of people dressed to the Nines there late night. Urban Farmer, the hotel's steakhouse is great for dessert and drinks - and I hear the food is superb too.

Since the hotel is located at the top of the Historic Meier & Frank Building which also houses Macy's (unfortunately a pretty sad one), it's centrally located downtown. While the MAX light rail is located right outside (free rides within a certain boundary), it was very easy to walk to most destinations. It's only a short taxi ride to the Pearl District or Nob Hill (which is where the cool boutiques are!).

Easy access to shopping - hello tax free retail! Directly across the street is Pioneer Place mall, and to the left is the Nordstrom flagship store.

The Nines is a really cool Retro Glam Hotel located above Macy's within the historic Meier & Frank Building. Our room was located on the 9th Floor and was on the inside of the Hotel facing the Urban Farmer Atrium. Maybe a room looking outside would have been better, but the trifecta of a well sound-proofed room, light-blocking curtains, and a super comfy bed, really had us sleeping through the night (and most of the morning) in happy luxury.

Gayle and I also enjoyed the extra touches here at The Nines. That included our elegantly appointed room, a welcoming and artistic chic Lobby and Atrium area, a roomy shower with plenty of hot water and pressure, soft bath robes, turn down service, a separate little office area off the main bedroom, a very helpful and knowledgeable Concierge Desk, and free loaner umbrellas on street level for those rainy Portland days.

The Nines is also conveniently located across the street from Pioneer Square, which gave us a ring side view point of various activities, including a Sunday Morning Alzheimer's walk, the Monday Farmer's Market, and a really great street band playing in front of Nordstrom on Saturday Evening. The TriMet Red Line (from PDX) also stops right here. And when you combine these public transit options and the easy walkability of the Rose City, why would anyone need a car or a cab, unless it were a special circumstance?

I enjoyed my stay at The Nines. The hotel features a lounge/restaurant on the top floor called Departure and a Steakhouse/casual bar on the 5th floor. The room itself was cozy and the decor elevated the relaxing atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the hotel is situated in an hourly primarily known for shopping. I was hoping there would be more food in the area, but you'd have to take a bus/tram to really explore foodie spots. The public transportation is good. Within walking distance is home to some of the most delicious food trucks - a plus if you enjoy exploring on foot.

I grew up in Portland, so it was a bit weird to me when they turned part of one of our oldest department stores into a hotel, but it's actually really cool! The suites here are gorgeous and have amazing views of downtown Portland's Pioneer Square and beautiful linens. I've heard they aren't that soundproof, though, but haven't spent the night in one so I can't say. What I can say is that the rooftop restaurant here is amazing and serves up lots of yummy dim sum. And did I mention they have an entire vegan menu and another gluten free one? I could eat here every day.

A really stylish hotel with a cool contemporary decor and great service.

From check in to check out everything worked flawlessly here. Staff is really friendly and helpful.

Rooms are elegant and cozy. The bed is super comfortable and the bathroom is also great, roomy and with great water pressure.

The lobby is on the 8th floor and it has some nice artworks and an atrium with chairs and sofas for you to relax and enjoy the nice environment.

The location of the hotel is also great. Walk two blocks up to Alder Street between 9th and 11th and you will find a really big food truck pod, which is the best way to explore Portland's famous street food scene.

Fantastic chic, modern place to grab drinks, even if you are not staying at the hotel you feel like a VIP instantly. After the elevator ride up you arrive in a almost spaceship feeling like bar, drapped with white walls and beautiful architexture. The drinks are delicious and the people are typically young and cool pdx types. Fun spot outdoors too if you need to grab some air and a great view of the city.

Perfect for drinks, mingling, meeting new people.

Great spot to stay in downtown PDX, owned by Starwood but with a boutique feel. The club floor has a great lounge with a nice happy hour daily. The roof top bar (Departure) is a must when visiting Portland during the dry months.

The Nines is a really nice hotel. The rooms are nice with all the nice amenities and a super comfortable bed. The gym is larger than you would expect with plenty of towels and ice cold water on hand. The Urban Farmer restaurant is great too. I've had breakfast there for 2 days straight now. Good food and good service. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
